Wendy Matthews — My Love of Knitting

My name is Wendy Matthews, and I’m 74 years old. I was born and bred in the Wairarapa, and I’m a good old farm gal.

I’ve been through a few challenges in my life. I’ve battled cancer three times, and I’ve also experienced the heartbreaking loss of a son. Life has certainly thrown some tough things my way, but through it all, I’ve kept going and found great joy in the things I love.

I started knitting when I was around four years old - yes, four! So I’ve had quite a bit of practice over the years!

Knitting has always been my number one hobby and is something I absolutely love. It’s more than just a hobby to me; it’s my passion.

I love creating beautiful things with my knitting, and one of the greatest joys for me is seeing people appreciate and enjoy the things I make. Knowing that someone is wearing something I’ve lovingly knitted, keeping warm and enjoying it, means a lot to me.

So, after all these years of knitting, I’m still doing what I love creating warm, beautiful things for everyone to enjoy.
